Johnny Steve Babb, 72, of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at his residence.
He was born December 14, 1945 in Washington County to the late Alfred Babb Jr. and Maggie Ellen Hubbard Babb.
Steve was a graduate of Happy Valley High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was a retired Crain Operator with Omni Source and was of the Baptist faith.
Steve was a member of the Happy Valley Boosters Club. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing with his grandson and spending time with his grandbabies.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life of 44 years, Carolyn Ann Babb, and infant daughter, Stephanie Ann Babb.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Dudley Stevens and Tina and Barry English; his grandchildren, Olivia Babb Bowers and husband Travis, Melissa English, Joey Strickland, Amber English, Megan English, Shalee Perry, Jonathan Perry and Steven Perry; his great-grandchildren, Arabella, Amelia, Jaxson and Griffith; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Judy Babb, Mike and Elaine Babb and Ricky and Christy Hubbard; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Carl Roberts.
Funeral services for Johnny Steve Babb were conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Alan King and Rev. Greg Wagner officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at noon Thursday, January 11, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Dudley Stevens, Travis Bowers, David Babb, Austin Babb, Dwayne Forbes, Jason Kyte, Nathan Kyte and Luke Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Babb, Mike Babb, Ricky Hubbard, Carl Roberts, Barry English and Wayne Carr. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Marlene Carr and all the kids and coaches at Happy Valley Schools. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit at his residence. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard.
