Clarence Walter “Dub” Holmes, 83 of Saltville, Va. recently saved, went to be with his heavenly father on January 11, 2018. He passed away at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, Va.
Born on May 4th, 1934 in Saltville, Va., he was the son of the late George and Irene Holmes of Saltville, Va.
He was also preceded in death by his wife. Jessie Lee Collins Holmes; brothers James Holmes of Saltville, Va.; Harvey Holmes of Glade Spring, Va.; and two sisters, Christine (Teenie) Holmes Church of Saltville, Va.; and Estelle Holmes Yontz of Saltville, Va.

He is survived by three children, Teresa Kestner and husband Randy Kestner of Glade Spring, Va.; C.W. Holmes of Saltville, Va.; Tina Martin & husband Daniel Martin of Chilhowie, Va.’ one brother, Raymond G. Holmes of Greenville, Tn,

Five grandchildren; Jacob Frye; Sarah Holmes; Elijah Davenport; Tammy McCoy; Tonia Kestner; and six great-grandchildren.

He was a veteran of the Korean War; an avid hunter and fisherman; and always had a dollar bill in his wallet for any child he saw.

Funeral services for Clarence “Dub” Holmes will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2018 in the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with Rev. R.L. Frye officiating. Burial will follow in the Elizabeth cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
