Obituary for Ray Robinson
Ray Albert Robinson, age 85, of Hixson, TN, went to heaven January 10, 2018 at home. Visitation will be held at Hamilton Funeral Home in Hixson on Friday, January '12, 2018, from 4-7p.m. and Saturday, January 13, 2018, from 12:30-1:30. A service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 2p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home in Hixson.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his sons Ray Robinson Jr. and Philip Robinson; parents; four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include wife of 63 years, Jimmie Robinson; daughter, Nancy Oliver; daughter-in-law, Sheree Robinson; granddaughters, Natalie (Ben) O’Dell and Becca Oliver; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Sadie and Weston O’Dell; sister, Bobbie Evans (Milton) and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Ray was a graduate of Auburn University, received a Master’s from the University of Tennessee and dedicated 40 years to TVA as an Electrical Engineer. He loved his Auburn Tigers and never missed watching a game of any kind. He served 20 years in the Army National Guard & Army Reserves where he retired as a Major. He was passionate about Boy Scouts. He served many years as a troop leader and loved taking his scouts on camping and canoeing trips. Ray was a member of the Dixie Daisies Square Dance Club, a volunteer for IHN and BVI , and a regular blood donor. Some of his most loved hobbies included gardening – especially his fig trees, genealogy, playing spades, rafting, camping & traveling.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 13, 2018, in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Tony Collins and Kevin Payne officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Eldredge Sunday School Class from Burks United Methodist Church.
Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be his nephews and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, January 12, 2018, from 4:00-7:00 pm and on Saturday, January 13, 2018, from 12:30 -2:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boy Scout Troop 166 at Burks UMC or the Burks UMC Van Fund.
