Mrs. Lucas retired from Virginia Metalcrafters after 15 years of service and had previously worked at Stanley Furniture. She treasured spending time with her family, camping, and socializing with others. She will always be remembered for the care and compassion she always showed those around her. To know her was to love her. She was our special angel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Pugh, and her sister, Helen Pugh.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 51 years, Eugene Lucas of Sherando; three daughters, Diane Coffey and husband, Garland, of Sherando, Winky Landes and husband, Teddy, of Waynesboro and Tonia VanDevander and husband, Randy, of Stuarts Draft; five grandchildren, Chastity Comer and husband, Stacy, of Sherando, Shane Coffey and wife, Christy, of Stuarts Draft, Cody and Corey Landes of Waynesboro and Matthew VanDevander of Stuarts Draft; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Comer and Ethan and Easton Coffey; her brother, Clifton Pugh and wife, Cathy, of Sherando; three sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Terry of Sherando, Paige Johnson and husband, Rodney, of Lyndhurst and Evelyn Hewitt and husband, Harold, of Waynesboro; a number of nieces and nephews; her special sister-in-law, Martha Ann Campbell; and numerous special friends, including Herman and Brenda Davenport of New York City.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McDow Funeral Home and at other times at her residence. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at McDow Funeral Home by the Revs. Dennis Bradley and William R. Freeman. Interment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Herman Davenport, Malcolm Monroe, Randy Patterson, Danny Painter, Gary Holt and Gary "Goat" Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces, nephews and those friends attending the service.
