BETTY "BJ" STRAUB, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at her home. Born Dec. 16, 1932, in Fort Wayne at home, she was a daughter of the late Otto and Edna (Brown) Lanning.

She was a member of the V.F.W. for over 25 years. She was a supporter of , Paralyzed Vets, and the Wounded Warrior Project. BJ was a loyal patron of the A&O Sweet Shop. BJ couldn't pass up on a garage sale. She also enjoyed shopping, and gardening.

She is survived by one brother, Virgil (Diane) Lanning of Fort Wayne; children, Steven (Debbie) Douglas of San Diego, Calif., Rich (Jacci) Gamble of Kimberling City, Mo., and Faith Scheerer of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Kristi Gan, Russell Scheerer, Michael and James Douglas, Justin Hart, and Charity Schindler; and great-grandchildren, Dalton, Ava and Austin.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell C.F. Straub on Sept. 11, 1995; brothers and sisters, Alva, Orla, George, Pete, Martha, Susan, Mary, Delores, Margaret, (twin sister) Barbara, Imogene, and Richard.

Service is 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at the funeral home. Entombment in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to , Paralyzed Vets, Wounded Warrior Project.
