Cornelia Anna Fowler Burke, 80, resident of Kiowa, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, January 10, at the Kiowa District Hospital.

Born May 20th of 1937, Cornelia experienced some of her most precious years in Columbus, Texas. Growing up, she excelled as a tap dancer, choir singer and distinguished musician. Cornelia kept her deep love of music all throughout her life by playing piano and organ at her church, nursing homes and at family gatherings. She was confirmed into the Columbus Lutheran Congregation but later joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Because of Cornelia's love for children, wherever she attended, she was greatly involved in Children's' Ministries. She attended college in San Marcos, Texas, and spent most of her adult life in Shreveport, Louisiana, working as an executive secretary and transcriptionist for law, medical and petroleum based industries.

Cornelia retired from KU Medical Hospital to settle in Kiowa many years ago to be closer to her children and grandchildren. For the past two years, she has enjoyed residing at the Kiowa District Manor. Most of her friends at the Manor will remember her contagious laugh, her willpower, and her deep love for Jesus. She enjoyed playing board games and puzzles, but most of all; she had true zeal for The Holy Word and her Savior.

Cornelia is preceded in death by her parents Renata and H.C. Fowler, and grandchildren Steven and Paul Cothran.

She is survived by her daughter Anna Seiden (husband Dwight) of Tyler, TX; her daughter Chantae Simpson (husband Roger) of Kiowa, KS; and her son James Burke (wife Peggy) of Kiowa, KS.

Cornelia is survived by her grandchildren: Rebecca Parratt (husband Smith) of Denton, TX; Kevin Seiden of Tyler, TX; Timothy Seiden (wife Brenda) of Tyler, TX; Amanda Seiden of Houston, TX; R.L. Simpson (wife Gabrielle) of Kiowa, KS; Greg Simpson (wife Rose) of Kiowa, KS; Michael Simpson (wife Ariel) of Kiowa, KS; Chalene Kramer (husband Mark) of Nome, AK and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Cornelia is also survived by her brother Ned William Fowler (wife Rosemary) of Beaumont, TX; her sister Renee Sheffield (husband Earl) of Anahuac, TX; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

Her family will respect Cornelia's wishes and she will be buried in Columbus, Texas where a graveside service will be held this spring. The family has asked that any memorials be given to The Freedom Gates Boys Ranch of Hazelton, Kansas, The Kiowa District Manor, or The American Cancer Society via the Pistol Packin' Mammas.

We are anxiously awaiting Christ's return to be reunited with this wonderful woman.
