Although last name has occasionally been spelled incorrectly as Camingcovich, actual emigration documents show it as Kaminkowitz. The family was originally from Russia and is Jewish, heading through England en route to the United States after leaving Russia.


The family was originally from Dokshytsy, Russia, a Jewish shtetl area which has a history of significant Hasidic Jewish population.
