On December 30, 2017, Velma Ward passed away due to complications of a stroke, which she suffered on December 2, 2017.

Velma was born on July 7, 1938 to Benton and Ruth Nupp in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. She and her sister, Viola and her orphaned cousin, Leroy, were raised on the family farm. On August 7, 1959 she married her sweetheart, John Ward. They then had two girls, Shari and Jenny.

In 1980 John, Velma and the girls moved to Utah where they made a home in Ferron. Over the years they have watched their family grow with 3 grandchildren; Amy, Brock, Markita and one great grandchild; John.

With regards to her upbringing, Velma had a strong work ethic and a passion for helping others. She gave selflessly to her family, friends and community. Her faith and love for The Lord was unwavering, and strong and we are comforted knowing where she now rests. In a place that knows no sorrow or pain.

She lived a quiet, happy life surrounded by those she loved. She will be dearly missed.
