Joel Benjamin Perry, Jr., 60, of 283 Holiday Island Road, Hertford, NC, died Monday, January 8, 2018 in his home.
Mr. Perry was born in Chowan County on June 30, 1957, and was the son of the late Joel Benjamin "J.B." Perry, Sr. and Dorothy Whedbee Perry Collins. A plant manager with Commercial Ready Mix Products in Elizabeth City, he was raised in the fellowship of Bethlehem Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.
Surviving are his two aunts, Myrtle Copeland and Delsie Ward, both of Hertford; and many cousins and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by Dr. Melvin Styons. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Saturday. A private burial will be held in Cedarwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of Northeastern NC, 102 Enterprise Drive, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
