Anthony F. Stevens, age 81, of Rome, passed away peacefully March 7, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, with his loving family at his side.

He was born March 11, 1933, in Springfield, MA, a son of the late John J. and Genevieve Thomas Stevens. He was educated at Proctor High School in Utica, and SUNY Canton. Tony was united in marriage to the former Kathleen “Kay” Mantelli, on June 21, 1986, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a self-employed accountant and income tax practitioner. He also was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church.

Tony was an active person who enjoyed sports. He volunteered 13 years in Rome Little League Baseball. He also enjoyed the many years of playing cards with his friends in Rome and the friendships made while attending the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Rome Memorial Hospital.

Tony is survived by his loving wife, Kay; a daughter, Deborah Stevens and a son, Joseph P. Vendetti; a grandson, Hunter A. Tennyson; and many in-laws, Ralph and Sylvia Mantelli, Mike and Mary Fazio, Robert and Barbara Mantelli, Harry and Marlene Schrefer, Bill Mantelli and Paul and Sue Mantelli; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph A. Stevens in 1998 and brother-in-law, Francis (Bud) Mantelli.

The family wishes to thank Nunn Hospital Supplies for recognizing Anthony in their publications, and the many years of compassionate and dedicated service.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:45 am from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
