He married Barbara Kerber on September 11, 1959. She preceded him in death in 1998.
He married Margery Robinson on November 24, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Margaret Frey, three sons, Dr. Daniel Kane, John Andrew and (Colleen) Kane and Dr. Timothy and (Jennifer) Kane, three grandchildren, Kyle Frey, August Kane and Aaron Kane, one sister, Mary (James) Hamilton, three brothers, Paul Kane, Francis (Elaine) Kaneand Thomas Sandra) Kane and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Kane.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Douglas, and two brothers, William and Robert.
Following service as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War, he graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in mechanical engineering.
He was employed by the Illinois Power Co. the manager of Baldwin Power Plant later as a technology expert
He was president of St. John the Baptist's board of Red Bud, and president of the Board of Trustees for St. Clement Hospital of Red Bud.
Mr. Kane was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Champaign.
