Rosalie “Rosie” Thompson, age 81 of Coal City, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Raleigh General Hospital.

Born June 20, 1927 at Kaymoor, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Jason Ritter (1895-1967) and Minnie Pearl Thomas-Ritter (1896-1975).

Rosalie was active in church, loved to sing in the choir and loved to cook. She was a member of the Coal City Community Church. She devoted her life to her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia "Jenny" Margaret Ritter-Herron (1918-2006); and four brothers, James Edward "Ed" Ritter (1916-1951), Harry Ritter (Deceased), Roy Ritter (Deceased), and Bob Ritter (Deceased).

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband David Andrew Thompson (1925-2018) of Coal City whom she married on September 29, 1945 in Coal City, Raleigh County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Raleigh County, WV, 1945, Page 188, Application Date: September 25, 1945); one daughter, Evelyn Jacqueline “Jackie” Thompson-Moran and husband Jose Moran of Beckley; one son, Ronald "Ronnie" Lee Thompson of Coal City; two granddaughters, Stacy Moran-Lazo and husband Michael Lazo of Charleston, and Jill Thompson of Crab Orchard; one great-grandson, Rocco Lazo of Charleston; and two brothers, Carl T. Ritter and wife Carol Ritter of Springhill, FL, and Clyde Ross Ritter and wife Carol Ritter of Little River, NC.

Services will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Coal City Community Church, Coal City with Pastor Jaris Tankersley and Pastor John Jordan officiating. Entombment will follow will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Chapel of Faith, Beckley.
