Lorraine Rita (Herman) Kost
Lorraine Rita Herman was born in Teller, Alaska to Eugene and Margaret Herman on July 31, 1934. She was raised by and was very close to the Blatchford family. She lived in Nome and worked at the Nome Hospital, Lorraine married John Kost Jr. they had seven children and she adopted six children.
Lorraine moved to Anchorage and has lived here for the last 39 years.
Lorraine was a natural caretaker and her primary occupation for the last 40 years was being a loving, strong, and supportive homemaker and mother to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren
Her hobbies included cross-stitching, baking bread and cinnamon rolls, and visiting her family and friends. Lorraine was a faithful servant to God and loved attending church. Our mom was an extremely loving and supportive person. She would do anything to make her family and friends feel comfortable and loved. Her strength and love will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Lorraine is survived by her children (1) Allen and Zina Kost, (2) John Kost Ill, (3) Fred Kost, (4) Jeannie and Adexzo Yuman, (5) Eugene Kost, (6) Charlotte Kost, (7) Michael Kost, (8) Nicholas Kost, (9) Shandan Kost, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sons (10) Robert D. Kost, (11) Robert G. Kost, her daughters (12) Mina and (13) Marie Silook and (14) Kathy Kost.
Lorraine was the matriarch and historian of our family, a loving mother and friend, and she was very loved and will be greatly missed.
