Kenneth Eugene Anderson, 71, of Council Grove, Kansas, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Stormont Vail Hospital.

He was born November 16, 1946 in Junction City, the son of Oscar J. and S. Louise (Mitchell) Anderson. Kenny married Colleen Ramsour on May 3, 1968. He was a farmer all his life, starting at the age of fifteen and continued until his retirement.

Kenny was a member of the Council Grove/Dunlap United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of Isis Shrine Temple of Salina and the Masonic Lodge AF & AM #357 of Alta Vista, and served on the Rural Water District #1 of Morris County for many years.

Most of Kenny's retirement activities, revolved around old tractors and traveling to see them. He also would take a trip every other year to Rantoul, IL to see the Half Century of Progress Farm Show. He spent countless hours on the phone trying to find parts for his old John Deere, International and Allis Chamber tractors. Ken worked briefly for the Soil Conservation office out of Council Grove as a young man and drove the bus for USD 417 for 6 years after he was not active in farming. He often started conversations with total strangers and always found something to talk about. One of his favorite pastimes was drinking coffee with his friends. He and Colleen took a recent trip to Sweden to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and to visit Kenny's family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Warren Anderson and sister Edith York.

Kenny is survived by his wife Colleen; sons Dennis Anderson and wife Kathy, of Alta Vista and Brian Anderson and wife Kari, of Leavenworth; granddaughters Rebecca, Amanda and Anya; grandson Jonas; great-granddaughters, Kiera and Milah; brother Ralph Anderson and wife Phyllis, of Council Grove; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 to 4:30 P.M., Sunday, January 14th, at Council Grove/Dunlap United Methodist Church. The family suggests casual dress. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital and sent in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, PO Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.
