Mr William John Duncan
Ramsay lost one of its best known farmers on Tuesday, January 28th, in the death of Mr William John Duncan. he was in his 84th year and passed away on the farm, 11th line of Ramsay, where he was born and spent his long life.Mr Duncan was a son of the late Robert Duncan and his wife Elizabeth McLinton. In 1905 he was married to the former Mina Simpson of Goulbourn, who predeceased him in 1935. He is survived by two sons, James K. Duncan of Ashton and Robert J. on the homestead. There are also brothers and sisters, namely, James of Winnipeg; Alexander in Penticton, B.C.; Mrs James Caskey, Winnipeg; Mrs Geo Robertson, Penticton, B.C. and Mrs Kidd Simpson, Ashton. The late Mr Duncan was one of this district's most substantial citizens. He lived quietly and industriously and never sought public office. He was a member of Bethany United Church, Almonte. He was a good neighbour and will be greatly missed by a wide circle of friends. The funeral will be held from the family residence on Friday afternoon at 2:30 (Standard Time) to the Auld Kirk Cemetery.
