Tulare - Richard L. Sturgeon, age 88, passed away on December 31, 2017. Richard was born to William and Dela Sturgeon in Tulare, California on January 16, 1929. He attended Tulare elementary schools and Tulare High School, graduating in 1947. In high school he was on the football and track teams. Richard proudly served in the United States Navy and worked for Pacific Bell and AT&T. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. Richard is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, his sister Martha Swenson and his brother John Sturgeon. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his daughters Brenda Schott (Michael) of Tulare; Karen Smith (Craig) of Tulare; Tamie Armer (Mitch) of Madera. Grandchildren Jason Schott (Angela); Jennifer Schott; Clay Smith (Marissa); Bryce Smith; Amanda Delgado (Chris) and James Armer. Great Grandchildren Camden and Colton Schott, Cole Smith, and Olivia Delgado.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018, 1:30 p.m. at North Tulare Cemetery, 4572 North J Street in Tulare. Donations in memory of Richard Sturgeon may be made to the Tulare Historical Museum, 444 W. Tulare Ave., Tulare CA 93274 or to the Tulare United Methodist Church, 228 W. Kern Ave., Tulare CA 93274.
