Donna Jean Chew completed her journey through this life and went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2018, with her husband and family at her bedside.
She was born June 19, 1948, in Bronte, Texas to Lewis and Hazel Caulder. She married her true soulmate, George O. Chew on December 5, 1963. Jean and George had over 54 wonderful and loving years of marriage. They had three children, Donna, James, and Carrie; and four grandchildren, Cassidy, Evan, Taylor, and Zach who affectionately call her NeeNaw.
Jean left school to raise her children, but her desire to care for others caused her to return to school and graduate from San Angelo State with her BSN in 1993. She was a collector of many things, but most importantly the memories created with her loved ones while fishing, camping, playing board games, and snake hunting.
She is survived by her husband, George; son, James; daughter, Carrie; daughter-in-law, Sherré; grandchildren, Cassidy, Evan, Taylor, and Zach; sister, Shirley Turner; brothers, Alvin Doyle and Wayne Caulder.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Donna; mother, Hazel Adams Caulder; father, Lewis Caulder; brothers, Raymond and Kenneth Caulder.
Visitation will be held all day Friday, January 12, 2018, at the Shaffer Funeral Home with family present 5-7 p.m. Family, friends and others whose lives were touched by Jean are invited to attend the funeral service at the Blackwell Baptist Church on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at the Blackwell Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
