Ginny was a lifelong area resident. She married Stanley R. Benson on May 18, 1952.
Survivors include her son, David (Leslie); a sister, Mildred Busch; a brother, Wilfred (Helen) Relyea; grandson, Alan Benson, who made his home with Ginny; Samantha Ruschak-Benson and her husband, Stephen; great-grandchildren, Lane and Hunter Ruschak; and several nieces and nephews.
Ginny enjoyed working at the Oddo House and Pavero's, and volunteering at Vassar Brothers Hospital.
The love she had for her family was unconditional. She loved feeding the birds, fishing, watching the Yankees, and loved her cats. Ginny's home was the gathering place for the family and many of her friends. She was a willing ear for all their problems and triumphs, and fed all who entered. She loved family camping trips to Little Bad Luck Pond in the Adirondacks, often with her sister Millie and her family. Ginny was a voracious reader and the Highland Library had a rough time keeping her in books.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley; a son, Gary; and her three brothers, Robert, Kenneth, and Jack.
Calling hours are Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main St., Highland, NY.
Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, January 11, 2018, 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
