Barbara Jean Tillman was blessed to receive life on March 2, 1941 daughter of the late Lucinda Tillman and William Hoover. She departed this earthy life on March 20, 2017. Barbara was born in Winston Salem North Carolina.
She graduated from Atkins High School and migrated to Brooklyn New York where she was employed by the Department of Social Services as an Eligibility Specialist III for over 20 years until retirement. While employed she encouraged friends to return to college with her to get their degrees; she obtained her Associate of Arts Science in Computer Science degree. She was admired for her creativity, wisdom and her loving care that touched the lives of many.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters Cassandra Warren, Teresa L. Tillman - Brown, grand children La Shonda Warren, Da Ondra Warren, Mark Warren Jr., great grand child Taje'ona Miller, cousins Ronald Tillman (Yolanda), Tyrone Tillman (Sandra), Renay Tillman (James), Robin Tillman ( Ronald), Josh Howard, Katrina Golden, Jo Ann Hughes, the late Susie Mae Givens Bishop and a host of cousins, friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 noon Saturday April 1, 2017 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am-12:00 noon at the funeral home.
