Hazel Catherine Altizer, 89, of Danville passed away Monday, January 8, 2018.

She was born April 22, 1928 and was a daughter of the late Roger and Myrtle Lam. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George; sister, Marietta Helphrey; and granddaughter, Amy Altizer.

She was a homemaker and was a resident representative at Black Diamond Arbor. She was a member of Myrtle Lyon Circle and a member of Madison United Methodist Church.

She is survived by children, Tom (Joyce), Philip (Virginia), Catherine (Loyd), Ray, and Melody Smith; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many loving friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 12 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Dr. Frank Frye and the Rev. Rick Swearengin officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Godby, WV.

Friends may call two hours prior to the service.
