CLEBURNE - Smaria Slaughter, 96, passed away Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018.
Smaria was born Aug. 2, 1921 in Memphis. She gave many kids a home and sent them to school, when they had no one. Some were family, some were not.
Smaria was preceded in death by her husband, Duffy V. "Doc" Slaughter; father, C.A. "Gus" Souder; mother, Lydia Elizabeth Wilder; father of her children, Wayne H. Souder; brothers, H.B. Souder, Floyd "Son" Souder; and sisters, Iona Mae Brown and Bobbie Faye Dennis.
Survivors: Children, Son, Floyd E. "Sonny" Souder and wife, Janelle; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Barrow and husband, Don, Patricia Louise Hall Ishmael; foster daughter, Rogelia Sanchez and husband, Dan; grandsons, Tracy Barrow and wife, Rachel, Jim Barrow and wife, Maria, Dee Barrow and wife, Stacy, Floyd "Sonny" Souder and wife, Tammy, James Hall and wife, Kristy, Bobby Hall, Steven Hall; granddaughters, Bobbie Faye Brooks and husband, Dale, Leigh Anne Barrow; 29 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
