Salem - Marjorie Mason, age 87, passed away on December 26, 2017 at her home in Salem, Oregon. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska on February 13th, 1930 to Martin and Lillian Fox and was the oldest of 8 children with 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Marge endured a long battle with congestive heart failure with the goal of spending one last Christmas with loved ones.

At the age of 5 the family moved to Clark, South Dakota. Marge graduated high school at Watertown High in 1948. Marge was an extremely hard working teenager, helping her parents raise her siblings, tending to the farm, and starting a long career of working in hospitals.

Marge moved to Salem, Oregon in 1951. She worked in the medical field for over 50 years starting as an x-ray technician and advancing to a CT technologist. As a natural born caregiver she loved her job because it allowed her to help people.

Marge married James Kirkpatrick in 1953. Together they had 2 children, Steven and Laurie. The family moved to San Jose, California in 1955 where Marge continued her career working at San Jose Hospital. In 1963 Marge married Dale Mason and had 2 children, Kevin and Lynnette. Along with Dale's 2 Children, Donna and Mike Mason, the family had grown to 8. In 1970, the family moved to Corvallis, Oregon. This was a great opportunity for Marge to grow close with her siblings and cousins who also lived in the area. They were able to bond at family outings, more specifically Uncle Jerry's house. Sadly, in 1977, Marge's oldest child Steven died in a car crash. Marge would forever have a broken heart but would do her best to be strong for her other children.

Marge retired from Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis in 1997, ending 27 years of devout service. Shortly after, Marge moved back to Salem and lived there for the remainder of her life. Marge had many hobbies, including bowling (where she once carried a 167 average), dancing, canning, and watching sports. She was a member of the Four Seasons social group and her local Senior Center where she made many friends playing Pinochle, Mexican Train, and Marbles. Marge's greatest joys in life were being involved in the lives of her grandchildren and holding babies. Nobody loved holding a baby as much as Marge.

Marge attended the Church of the Nazarene with many family members and friends. She will be dearly missed by not only her children and surviving siblings but also by her 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson. She was incredibly loved. May her memory be eternal.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 at 10:30 am at the Salem First Church of the Nazarene. Graveside services will be at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Albany at 3:00 pm. Arrangements by Howell Edwards Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors of Salem.
