Obituary for Pamela A. Baxter

Pamela Anne Baxter (nee Hackett) died January 5, 2018. She was 79 years old. Pamela was born on February 1, 1938 in Sheffield, England. Her parents were Charles and Marguerite Hackett.

Pamela attended high school in Beckenham, Kent. She met her husband William in Oxford, when she worked for the university. They were married in 1960 in Brixham, Devon, and emigrated to the United States in 1961. She worked at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York before moving to Michigan in 1964.

After raising three daughters, she returned to the work force primarily in educational institutions for example, Oakland University, Cranbrook, and Country Day Schools. In retirement, Pamela & William spent their winters in Longboat Key, Florida and had recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. In her leisure-time she enjoyed performances of the symphony and opera and impressed all with her high speed, almost robotic, knitting while watching television.

Pamela is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, William Baxter, and her loving daughters, Jane (Stephen) Higgins, Anne Baxter, and Sarah (Michael) Stassus, and her five cherished grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson (Between 14 & 15 Mile Roads) on Saturday, January 13th at 3pm. Friends may visit beginning at 2pm.

Memorials may be made to the Michigan Humane Society, 30300 Telegraph Road, STE 220 Bingham Farms, Michigan 48025 or the Alzheimer’s Association 25200 Telegraph, STE 100 Southfield, Michigan 48033
