Linda Lou McClure, age 74, of Red Bank, went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2018.

She was born in Chattanooga to Raymond and Josephine Dupree on April 14, 1943. She met the love her life, Sonny McClure, in 1965 and they were married after just several weeks of dating.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Sonny McClure; parents, Raymond and Josephine Dupree; sister, Mary Harris; and brother Mike Dupree.

Linda was a loving, caring, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a long-time member of Alpine Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir. She loved gardening and could grow anything, especially banana trees. She loved her little rescue animals and her compassion and love were tremendous.

Her battle with ALS was a difficult journey and she can only be described as on of the bravest people we have ever seen. We owe a special thank you to all the staff at Life Care of Red Bank for their love and care for her. They not only took amazing care of her, but truly loved her as family.

We will love, cherish and miss our mother every day.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the ALS Association (webtn.alsa.org)

Those left to cherish Linda’s memory include her daughters’ Gina and Kurt Lakin, and Lisa and Mike Pugh; her beloved neighbor Jamie Gill, grandchildren, Megan (Daniel), Kelsey (Andrew), Hayden, Emma, Tyler (Jessica); great-grandchildren, Emery, Addie and Elliott; brothers, Danny and Dorris Dupree and Benny and Diana Dupree; sister, Tammy Mathis; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 5pm – 7pm Tuesday and 12pm – 1:30pm Wednesday in the Tranquility room at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace. A graveside service will be 2pm Wednesday at Chattanooga Memorial Park, Pastor Jimmy Fowler officiating.

Arrangements entrusted to Lane Funeral Home 601 Ashland Terrace Chattanooga, TN 37415.
