Mildred Irene Welch, 100, of Carmi, died Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Wabash Christian Village. She was born in Norris City, IL on October 4, 1917, the daughter of Elmer Guy and Alma Ethel (Downen) Leathers. Mildred married Monte Curtis Welch on March 28, 1935 and he preceded her in death on February 27, 1954. Mildred had worked as a nurses aide at Carmi Hospital for 27 1/2 years.
Mildred is survived by two daughters, Sharon Deckert, of Hobbs, NM and Brenda and husband Harold “Jack” Sasse, of Henderson. KY; daughter-in-law, Glenda June Welch, of Carmi; six grandsons and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James Rodney Welch on March 17, 1998 and a son-in-law, Lowell Deckert.
Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden in Carmi.
