Ida May Lee, age 86 of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, January 8, 2018 at The Cedars of Austin.
Ida May Klingfuss was born May 14, 1931 in rural Austin, Minnesota to Henry Klingfuss and Mabel Wyant. Ida’s mother married Alfred Lutz and he raised Ida. She grew up in the Austin area, attended Austin Public Schools and graduated from Austin High School in 1949. In college, she studied bookkeeping. On June 25, 1950, Ida and Richard Lee were married at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, where the family remained as active members. Their union was blessed with four children. Ida enjoyed her role as wife, mother, and homemaker. She did canning and baking, and enjoyed reading magazines, watching TV game shows, gardening, and traveling. The Lees took an annual fishing trip, which was one of their favorite memories. Ida will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her children Danny (Ann) Lee, Jerry (Teresa) Lee, and Vicky (Jerome) Hansen, all of Austin, and Brian (Tammy) Lee of Owatonna; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; her brother Raymond (Gail) Klingfuss of Shakopee. She was preceded in death by her parents Mabel and Alfred Lutz, her biological father Henry Klingfus, her husband Richard Lee in 2017, her brother Eugene, one half-brother, one half-sister, and her sister-in-law Agnes Lutz.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Todd Portinga, Associate in Ministry, officiating. Friends may call from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10 at Worlein Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin. Memorials to St. Olaf Lutheran Church or recipient of donor’s choice.
