Robert Allan James, 77, Corydon, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon. Born Nov. 6, 1940, in Cropper, Ky., he was the son of the late Marshall and Dorothy Blackabee James.

He graduated from Morehead State College, paying for it by selling Bibles and dictionaries, and taught art classes in schools for 10 years. He worked as a manager at McDonald’s in Campbellsville, Ky., owned an insurance office in Corydon with the Woodmen Accident and Life Insurance Co., and later sold insurance for several different companies. He also worked at Sears selling siding for houses and at Walmart. He was a 40-year member of Faith Assembly Church in Clarksville, where he did art work for The Contender.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ted Allan Jame, and a brother, Charlie James.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, the former Shirley Ann Ford; a son, Robert Eugene (Bobby) James; a stepson, Terry L. Curry; a stepdaughter, Rita Stocksdale; a sister, Janice McKinney; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation: Wednesday, Jan. 3, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon and Thursday, Jan. 4, after 10 a.m. at Faith Assembly Church in Jeffersonville.
