AUSTINTOWN – Samuel Frank Wayland, 80, passed away Jan. 5, 2018, after an extended illness at Salem Regional Medical Center.
“Sam” was born Aug. 12, 1937, in Youngstown and attended East High School. He is a son of the late Samuel Clyde Wayland and Jenny Brooks Wayland and late wife, Shirley Stitt Wayland.
Sam was an electrician and vice president of Vital Records. He was active in the Boy Scouts, a member of Masonic Lodge No. 615, a member of Scottish Rite 32 degree and active in other civic organizations. He enjoyed going to lunch with Roy Pasarelli and Ed Hawkins. Sam was also water color artist.
Sam leaves to cherish his memory, a son, James Wayland and wife Carla; four grandchildren, Olivia, Connor, Caleb and Owen; his long-time companion, Kathleen Judge-Martin; his sister, Margaret Franklin; niece Amy and Frank Pennol of Struthers and Mary Franklin and nephews of Nashville, Tenn.
