Mr. Walter F. Jackson, age 79, of Vidalia, died Monday, April 25, 2022, at his home after a sudden illness. He was born in Metter, and as a child, moved to Toombs County where he lived all of his life. At the age of nine, Walter starting working in a grocery store in Vidalia to help support his family after the death of his father, and at the age of fifteen, he worked a milk route. He began a career with Derst Baking Company in 1964, and retired as District Manager in 2009. After retirement, he founded Jackson Distributing which he currently was operating. He attended The Chapel at Santa Claus and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. He enjoyed daily yard work, fishing at the coast, and anything involving family, especially his grandchildren. Preceding him in death was the love of his life, Carolyn Brantley Jackson; parents, Willard Jackson and Alma Pearl Jones Jackson; and two siblings, Ray Jackson and Barbara Jackson.

His family includes one daughter, Vicki Jackson Caraway and husband Greg of Vidalia; four grandchildren, Colby Hall and wife Brooke of Lyons, Madison Beasley and husband Matthew of Cedar Crossing, and Lexi Malone and Lani Malone of Vidalia; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Hall, Keeley Hall, Jackson Beasley, and Jacee Beasley; four sisters, Margaret Jackson Pruitt of Vidalia, Gloria Jackson "Bill" Pruitt of Lake City, Florida, Jeanette Jackson Parrish of Jasper, Florida, and Sabrina Jackson Jarriel and husband Calvin of Lyons; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

The funeral service will be Thursday, April 28th, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Riner officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
