Aragon, Annette May "Aunt Annie"

Annette May "Aunt Annie" Aragon, affectionately know as "Aunt Annie," passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018.

She was born Oct. 10, 1933, in Roswell, N.M., to proud parents, Eugene and Mary E. (Madrid) Aragon, who preceded her in death, along with two sisters and five brothers, including, most recently, Margaret and Frank.

She was raised in Canon City, where she attended St. Michael's grade school, and high school at St. Scholastica Academy. She entered the Benedictine convent in Yankton, S.D., following graduation, where she received her bachelors in Education and later, special degrees in Science and English. She took the name of Sister Cabrini, OSB, but due to health reasons, she had to leave the convent, returning home for a while.

She then went on to teach elementary school in Nebraska, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and Fort Carson, retiring from Fort Defiance, Ariz.

She returned to live in Pueblo, and for many years, volunteered at St. John Neumann School, to keep "watch" over her great nephews, Mathew and Noah Reyes, but she never admitted this to anyone. But her love of children led her to volunteer many hours at the school and to donate her time, money, and love for the needs of the children and school.

She was known as "Miss Annie" by the students. She also donated to many charities throughout the country.

Annie loved her Catholic faith and attended St. Francis Xavier, Holy Family, and St. Pius X, volunteering many hours of service to these parishes.

And she enjoyed football, especially the Broncos.

During her latest illness, Annie was lovingly cared for by Paul and Gina Reyes. She loved her family, especially her many nephews and nieces, who affectionately called her "Aunt Annie." Other extended family members, too numerous to mention, also remember her affectionately. She was most loved by her family, and had many, many friends around the country and world who thought highly of her.

She leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, Maria (Marvin) Stucker, John J. Aragon (Sherwyne, dec.), Patricia (Mando/Joe) Reyes, Rita Clark, Christopher Aragon, Georgene Aragon and Gerard Aragon.

Funeral services, Tuesday, Jan. 9, at St. Pius X Church, 3130 Morris, Pueblo.

Rosary, 10:30 a.m., followed by the Mass at 11 a.m. with celebrant, Father Matthew Wertin.

Interment will be in Canon City, at Lakeside Cemetery.
