John Murray Ault was the son of Charles B. and Mary (Fulkerson) Ault.

He had several siblings by this marriage; Harriet (b.1854, d.1933), Emily (b.1856, d.1857), Sarah (b.1862, d. 1870) and Frank Ault (b. 1860, d.1880).)

His father would later remarry to Loretta A. (Lemm) Ault and together they would have eight children.

On the 1875 Kings, New York State Census, John is listing as living in the household of his sister, Harriet (Ault) Baird, her husband James, and their child Frederick Baird. John is 17 years old at the time and is employed as a "Brushmaker".

On the 1880 US Census for Mills County, Iowa, John Murray Ault is back in Iowa and living with his father, Charles B. Ault, step-mother, Loretta, and several half-siblings. He would eventually return to New York.

On September 1, 1888, John married Nettie Maguire in Manhattan, New York.

In 1897, they gave birth to a son, Harold M. Ault.

The 1900 US Census for Newark City, New Jersey shows that John, Nettie, and child Harold are all living in the household of Nettie's father, Charles W. Maguire.

The 1910 US Census for Bloomfield Ward 1, Essex, New Jersey, now shows that only Nettie and son Harold are living with her father, Charles W. Maguire. Nettie is now listed as a widow.

Details of John's death are unknown to this contributor at this time. His wife Nettie died in 1951 and their son Harold passed away in 1929. They are both interred at the Glendale Cemetery located in Bloomfield, Essex County, New Jersey. John is not interred there and a search of Valleau Cemetery, where sister Harriet is interred, shows no record of him there either.
