Nancy Jo Ann (DeCastaker) Holland of Waukee, IA, loving sister, wife and mother and dear friend to many passed away after a long and courageous battle with Breast Cancer that spanned 27 years surrounded by her family on December 28 2017. Nancy was 69 years of age.

Nancy was born on July 11, 1948 to Emil and Virginia (Eganhouse) DeCastaker in Davenport, IA. She attended Holy Family School and graduated from Davenport Assumption High School in 1966. She then earned her Bachelor Degree in English and Elementary Education from Clarke College in Dubuque, IA. Nancy married her college sweetheart and the love of her life, Edward Vincent Holland III on July 19, 1969 in Davenport, IA. She worked at Mercy/Genesis West Hospital for 26 years in various administrative capacities.

Nancy was very dedicated to her family and friends. She had a warm and caring spirit and smile that allowed her to make everyone she met feel valued and at ease. Nancy loved her God, country, family and friends and was fiercely proud of them all. She was also proud to support her husband Ed and serve her country as an Army wife for three years. Nancy adored her precious children and grandchildren and received so much joy being part of their lives. Nancy and Ed particularly enjoyed the beautiful Hawaiian Islands and travelled there many times. Nancy was Catholic and over the years was a member of the following parishes: Holy Family and Saint Anthony’s in Davenport and the Basilica of Saint John in Des Moines, IA.

Nancy is survived by her adoring husband, Ed, of 48 years; son and daughter-in-law, Edward Vincent IV and Cara Holland, daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Jimmy Vela, son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Dr. Sarah Holland, and 7 grandchildren - Analissa, Cristian, Brady, Dillon, Madeline, Leah, and Tate; brother, Thomas Edwards and brother-in-law, John Beh. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Virginia and dear sister, Connie (Edwards) Beh.

Nancy always felt so blessed, thankful and overwhelmed by the unwavering loving support and prayers of her dear friends and family, as well as for the expertise and sincere caring of so many medical professionals who helped her to live for so many treasured and quality years.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, IA. There will be a prayer service at 3:00 pm to begin the visitation. Funeral Services and a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1923 N Fillmore St, Davenport, IA. Burial will be in The Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to either the American Cancer Society, or Assumption High School.
