After graduation from UNC, Bob served in the US Army, where he was stationed at Fort Jackson in the position of chief pay master until his discharge in 1955.
After serving his country, Bob began work for Western Electric, where he rose in the company through its many reorganizations to the position of manager of corporate personnel/data systems. Bob retired from AT & T at the end of 1989.
A lifelong Winston-Salem native, Bob was very active in The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem. Bob began performing in grammar school and his first Little Theatre production was "Anything Goes"in 1959. After that production , Bob was in the cast of one or two shows each year, as well as a regular member of the backstage crew and a makeup artist, over the next thirty years. Bob served on the Board of Directors of The Little Theatre for several different terms and received the Doris Pardington Award in 1996 for his continuous service and lifelong support to The Little Theatre. Bob was also very active at the UNC-School of the Arts. One of his greatest joys was being a "host parent" for students at UNCSA, for which he was recognized in 1995.
Bob was a devout Catholic and a lifetime member of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church. He attended mass every Sunday and was engaged in the ministries of his church.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Anies Daye, Jr., and sisters, Evelyn Ragland and Rosalie Rabil. Bob is survived by his twin brother, James Daye (Barbara), his sister Margaret Attayek, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who remember him for his love and generosity.
