She then married Benjamin Barrett on October 14, 1933 in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She later married Lyle Dennis.

She later became a member of the Independent Bible Baptist Church after moving from Illinois to Pittsburg, Kansas. Grace enjoyed life, adventure, writing poetry and short stories, gardening, crafts, singing and listening to Gospel music. Above all else, she was passionate about leading others to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. She often said "I pray the light of Jesus that shines in my eyes for all to see, will never go out."

Grace led the seventeen member kitchen band "Our Gang" in Pittsburg, Kansas for six years before her health caused her to quit. The band traveled to nursing homes and senior centers putting on skits, singing and playing music on their homemade instruments.

Grace had been employed at various jobs including the Buster Brown Shoe Factory in Pittsfield, Illinois, Pomeroys Paper Box Company and the Parachute Factory.

Survivors include a son, James Donald Rodrick (Carla) Walnut Creek, CA; three daughters, Ruth Joan Hanlin of Quincy, Barbara Jean "B.J."
