Son Of Elwood's First Mayor Dies

James Loomis DeHority, age 52, died at 2 o'clock this morning at the Veteran's hospital at Indianapolis after a brief illness. He was taken to the hospital last Friday after being stricken with double pneumonia.

Mr. DeHority was the son of Elwood's first mayor, William A. DeHority. He was a veteran of World War One and a member of the Louis Monroe Post, of the American Legion. He was also a member of the First Methodist church.

The son of William A. and Frances Metz DeHority, he was born September 9, 1893 at 1634 North B street, where he has resided ever since. He was united in marriage Dec. 16, 1922 to Fae Beatrice Warneke, of Columbus, Ohio. She preceded him in death on May 24, 1929.

He is survived by one son, James Edwin DeHority, of the United States Naval Air Station, at Miami, Florida. The son came home on emergency leave early this week. Also surviving is one brother, Walter C. DeHority, of Laurel, Miss., and one sister, Mrs. Ruth DeHority Booth, of Pasedena, California.

The body was returned today to the York Memorial Home, on South Anderson street, where it will remain.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, at the York Memorial Home, with Rev. J. B. Sparling, pastor of the Grace Methodist church, in charge. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the City cemetery.

Services Sunday For James L. DeHority

Funeral rites for James Loomis DeHority, 52, of this city, who died at the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness, Friday morning, will be conducted from the York Memorial Home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. J. B. Sparling pastor of the Grace Methodist church will be in charge. Burial with military honors will follow in the City cemetery.
