Douglas Michael James, 63, of Rigby, Idaho passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at EIRMC in Idaho Falls.

Doug was born on May 9, 1954 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Glenn Abraham James and Beverly Lay James. He attended Rigby High School. Doug married Susan Carter on September 27, 1974 in Rexburg, Idaho. They were sealed in the Rexburg L.D.S. Temple September 27, 2011. He actively served many callings in the LDS church. Doug was a member of the Cement Masons union working jobs throughout the state. He was employed at INL for a few years. He started his own business as a contractor building homes in the area. Recently in his retirement years he was a school bus driver for Jefferson County. He drove the neighborhood kids to and from school. Doug enjoyed golfing, skiing and most of all spending time with his family. He loved interacting with each of his 16 grandchildren.

Doug is survived by his wife Susan James of Rigby, Idaho, his mother Beverly James, three daughters, Jennifer (Jarom) Whitehead of Twin Falls, Idaho, Tiffany Rose James of Rigby, Idaho, Michelle (Philip) Meehan of Knoxville, Tennessee, a son Eric Michael (Britanie) James of Shelley, Idaho, three sisters, Jolene (Kevin) Anderson of Ammon, Idaho, Kathy (Robert) O’Hara of Riverton, Utah, Colleen (Kent) Blessinger of Pocatello, Idaho, four brothers, David (Judy) James of Rigby, Idaho, Daryl (Carmel) James of Rigby, Idaho, Ron (Val) James of Council, Idaho and Dale(Brenda) James of Rigby, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his father Glen Abraham James, his grandparents, A.T. James, Rose James, Winford Lay and Clara Lay.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Rigby LDS South Stake Center (106 North 3800 East Rigby, ID 83442). The family will meet with friends and family on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the South Stake Center from 6:30 to 8:00 pm and prior to the service from 11:30am-12:45pm. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com
