Jerry was born June 4, 1936 to John and Pearl (Owens) Robbins. He married the love of his life Utonna Evangeline Baker in 1960. Jerry worked as a carpenter for Central Iowa Carpenters and later at the Des Moines School District.
Jerry’s whole life was his family. He enjoyed watching Westerns, reminiscing about the old times spent with his large family, and his dog Cocoa, a Chiuhahua, who is the “cutest, most smartest puppy in the world.” If it were possible to sum up a person’s life with one word for Jerry it would be family. He gave himself without hesitation and would sacrifice anything for them. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed going to breakfast with his wife. For the past 20 plus years he hosted Thursday “gathering night” dinner for the entire family. He had a deep faith in God and would never miss the daily John Hagee ministry on TV.
Jerry is survived by his children, Kevin (Janet) Robbins of Indianola, Lisa (Rick) Hill of Des Moines, and John (Liz) Robbins of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Emily (Jonathan) Tallman , Ashley Robbins, Jared Robbins, Logan Beaver, Rachel Robbins, Joseph Robbins, Nick Robbins, Delaney Robbins; and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Utonna Robbins; parents John and Pearl Robbins; and he was the last survivor of his 12 siblings.
The family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday January 7th at Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 314 E. Army Post Rd in Des Moines. A funeral service will be held on Monday January 8th at 10:00 a.m. at Glad Tidings Assembly of God.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Jerry.
