Dale Eugene Benedix, 68, of Moville died at a Sioux City hospital. Services were at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, where he was a member, with the Rev. Scott Meier officiating. Dale had served as church custodian, former church council member, former co-superintendent of Sunday school, member of the church dart ball league and active in the men's group. Burial was in Arlington Cemetery.

Dale was the son of Fred L. and Marie M. (Michaelson) Benedix. He graduated from Pierson High School and then worked on the family farm. He had siblings: Fred (Shirley) and Robert (Marie), all of Correctionville, and Theresa (Daker) McQueen of Pierson, IA.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 with C Battery, 52nd Field Artillery Battalion, stationed in Korea. His awards and decorations include the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.
Following his discharge, he married Dolores Wendel on Feb. 20, 1955, in Moville. The couple farmed the Benedix farm until 1964, when they moved and farmed in Moville, then to Galva, IA, then to Cushing, IA. In 1975 they moved to the Wendel family farm, where they remained until retiring in 1993. In Oct.1994 they moved into Moville. He also was employed as a bus driver for Woodbury Central Schools beginning in 1985.
He was a former Woodbury County Extension board member and former 4-H leader for the Sliver Creek Township 4-H Club in Ida County. He was a member of Kingsley Swingers square dance club.
Survivors include his wife; siblings; children:
1. Rodney (Rebecca) of Maquoketa, IA
2. Steven of Washington,
3. Staff Sgt. Kelly of Glendale, Ariz.
4. Brian and his special friend, Rochelle Ehl of Lawton, IA
5. Lisa (Eric) Hunter of Federal Way, WA
6. Kimberly Benedix of Moville;
Also 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
