David, 73, of Olivet passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017, at Select Specialty Hospital at Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek. He was born to Harold and Esther Sloan.

David graduated from Olivet High School in 1963 and spent a year at Western Michigan University. He was a military policeman in the Army and did a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was very proud to be a veteran.

David retired after 44 years of service from Air Way Manufacturing in Olivet, where he worked as the manager of customer service.

David married Sharon Laing in 1966 and spent 51 wonderful years together. Theirs was a true love story.

He was an avid reader, who also enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and camping with his family and friends. David loved his family especially his grandchildren and loved spending time together.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters: Michele (Eric) Ward of Kalamazoo, Deborah (Jeff) Yost of Olivet; granddaughters: Sloan Davis, Alexandria Davis; grandsons: Forrest Ward, William Ward; step grandsons: Ethan Yost, Tyler Yost; sister, Karen Sullivan of Gaylord; and brother, Mark Sloan of Sheboygan, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held on Friday, January 5, 2017 at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Jack Brown officiating. Interment took place at Lee Center Cemetery.
