Son of Charles A. Sherwin and Gracia Smith. Father died in 1863 (most likely in the Civil War as he was a sergeant, with the Minnesota Infantry, 4th regiment) and Gracia remarried to Aaron Ferris.

PIONEER MINER OF KOOTENAY DEAD

Nelson, B.C., Dec. 22 - Charles F. Sherwin, pioneer mining man of the Kootenay Lake district, and who has resided at Riondel for a great many years, died in Kaslo Hospital Saturday after a lingering illness.

He was for many years superintendent of the Bluebell Mine. He was nearly seventy years of age and was well known throughout the Province in Masonic circles.
Son of Charles A. Sherwin and Gracia Smith. Father died in 1863 (most likely in the Civil War as he was a sergeant, with the Minnesota Infantry, 4th regiment) and Gracia remarried to Aaron Ferris.
