Pamela Marie Mathis

Pamela Marie Mathis, age 64, of Ontario, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 in Ontario, OR.

Family and friends may call at the First Baptist Church in New Plymouth, Saturday Jan. 6, 2018 from 9 am to 10:30 am. Funeral services will follow at 11 am at the church. Pastor Phil Pittman will officiate. Funeral services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.

Our loving Wife, Mother, Nana, Friend, and Sister went to be home with the Lord after her almost two-year fight with cancer. Pam was born to Robert and Elaine Peterhans in Oakpark, IL on March 9, 1953, then moved to Brookfield where she spent her childhood.

She married and had two children, Dennis Lee and Sandra Kay. After a divorce she married Dallas Mathis on Dec. 9, 1983 in Miami, OK. They had one daughter Sabrina and moved to Caldwell, ID where they only resided for a little while and then moved to Henderson, NV for several years before they decided to move their family to Ontario to be near family.

She was a care provider for many years to those in need. Her passion was volunteering with The Special Olympic Athletes; she became the Local Program Coordinator. She spent countless hours organizing and coaching the Bowling team, swim team and Equestrian team. Her drive to make these kids happy was something you couldn’t put into words. She loved all of them unconditionally. She loved to be outside. She loved her garden and had an amazing green thumb. She grew more than she could eat, and enjoyed sending bags home with people or having her husband drop them off at places. She loved her grandchildren so much, they brought her to life. She couldn’t go two days without stopping by to at least say hi.

She is survived by her husband Dallas Mathis of Ontario; son Dennis Williams (Marla) of Illinois; daughters Sandra Williams of Illinois and Sabrina Coley (Brandon) of Ontario; grandchildren Ashley, Bristol, and Gavin; brothers, Richard Peterhans (Carol) and Bill Peterhans; sister Carol Burd (Tim); numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and sister Barbara.

The Family would like to thank the Staff at MSTI Fruitland for their amazing care and support. The family would also like to thank everyone who attended/donated or helped with the Fundraiser to get her a second opinion. Her cancer progressed very quickly, and she couldn’t travel. The money allowed us to fulfill some of her dreams on her last days.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to MSTI Fruitland for cancer research 1118 NW 16th St Suite D Fruitland, ID 83619 or Idaho Special Olympics dedicated to the DC Superstars, 199 E. 52nd St, Garden City, ID 83714.
