Alvin L. Johnson, 92, passed away, Thursday, January 4, 2018 at CGH Medical Center, after a lingering illness.
Alvin was born February 10, 1925 in Genesee Township, the son of Bernard and Hannah (Rushmeyer) Johnson. He married Frances M. Bauer on May 5, 1951 in Sterling.
Alvin owned and operated service stations a water softening business, and sold snowmobiles. He enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, and for 27 years wintering in the Rio Grande Valley, TX.
Survivors include his wife, Frances of 66 years; daughter, Nancy (James) Hardt; son, Gregory Johnson; daughter-in-law, Diana Johnson; six grandchildren, Matthew (Lindsay) Hardt, Shawn Hardt, Cory (Jennifer) Johnson, Eric Johnson, Kelli (Ben) Johnson Kinn and Zachary Johnson; five great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Arthur Johnson; great-granddaughter, Edyn; two sisters, Helen Pitts and Vera Coble; three brothers, Glenn, Elmer and Faye.
Funeral services will be held at the Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation, Sterling, with the Reverend Brandon Nelson, pastor, of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sterling, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling.
