Bishop John R. Pack, 74, of St. Albans, formerly of Beckley, went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

He was born April 13, 1943 in Daniels, WV to the late Lemuel B. and Beulah E. Pack.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he loved his time as an MP with the First Calvary.

John also loved his career as a Raleigh County Deputy and as a Raleigh County school bus driver.

He served 35 years as a senior pastor in the Church of God. Serving churches in Lester Hotchkiss and recently retired from the Glen Jean New Beginning Church of God.

John is survived by his lifelong love, his wife of 55 years, Iris M.; daughter, Hope (Bob) Young of St. Albans; granddaughter, Chrystal (J.D.) Wall of Grand Forks, ND and step-grandson, Dale (Barbara) Harper of Winfield; great grandson, Nathanael Wall and step-great grandson, Jacob Harper; sister, Carol (Jim) Craig of Soddy Daisy, Tn; sister-in-law, Linda Pack of Rock Hill, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service will be 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 7, at the Bridge of Faith Fellowship, 402 Main Ave., Nitro with Rev. Gary S. Ayers, Pastor Mike Ramsey and Bishop J. D. Wall officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the church.

The committal service will be held Monday, January 8, at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Chapel of Serenity, 5250 Robert Byrd Dr., Prosperity, WV officiated by Pastor Tom Fife with military graveside rites.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to The Love Your Neighbor Project in care of Bridge of Faith Fellowship, 402 Main Ave., Nitro, WV 25143.
