Joseph Almon Gatlin, Jr. of Decatur passed away at his parents home while recuperating from an earlier heart attack. Almon spent 10 years of his early childhood in East Africa as a missionary kid (MK). He graduated from Briarcliff High in 1978, and from Georgia State University in 1986 with a degree in Administration of Justice (Suma cum Laude). He worked for First Baptist Decatur Activities Ministry in charge of After School and Summer Camp programs. For the past 18 years he has been employed at the DeKalb County Tax Commissioners offices, first in Property tax and more recently in Vehicle licensing. Almon Is survived by his parents: Joe and Dorothea Gatlin, sister Jeryl Gatlin, two nieces: Larissa Rowe and Caraleigh Tackett, and a special close friend Kathryn Hornsby.
