Mary's mother Elizabeth past away on May 17, 1873 from unknown causes at age 24 when Mary was only 5. Her father remarried July 29 1873 to Almira F Farley (daughter of Andrew and Sarah Farley). Young Mary eventually ended up at her Ellison Grandparents and was raised by them. Daniel went on to marry Martha T Crews 149882615 (daughter of John W and Susan Meador Crews) in Summers Co WV on Dec 4 1895.

At the stated age of 19, Mary married Luther Samuel Kessinger (son of Silas and Charlotte Ann Kessinger) in Mercer Co WV on May 15 1889.
Samuel and Mary had 9 children and also brought in a boarder William Lewis French when he had nowhere to live and he stayed with them till he was of age.
Mary and Samuel both past away in 1946. Samuel died of a-fib from hypertension and hardening of the arteries. Mary had a heart attack at her half-brother Columbus' funeral and though she survived it she only made it a few more weeks before she past from coronary thrombosis.
Mary and Samuels farmhouse home still stands across the field from the Kessinger Cemetery.
