Ira Earl Kessinger, age 81, of Glen Morgan died on Saturday, March 30, 1973 following a long illness. He was a member of the First Christian Church and a retired employee of Perdue Transfer Company.

He was born on March 25, 1892, in Camp Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Samuel Kessinger (1870-1946) and Mary Elizabeth Lilly-Kessinger (1868-1946); and one brother, James “Fred” Kessinger (1890-1959).

He is survived by his wife, Dorinda Goad-Kessinger (1894-1979) of Glen Morgan whom he married on June 30, 1915 in Mercer County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Mercer County, WV, 1915, Page 83, Line 15, Application Date: June 30, 1915); two sons, James Earl Kessinger and Ira “Drexel” Kessinger (Deceased), both of Beckley; three daughters, Frances Carol Kessinger-Franckewitz (1931-2011) of Glen Morgan, Mrs. Ceola Walker and Helen Kessinger-Davis (1925-Deceased) & husband Foster Davis, both of Hawaii; two brothers , Leonard Horton Kessinger (1899-1977) of Camp Creek, and Arnold Taylor Kessinger (1905-1992) of Beckley; five sisters, Mary E. Kessinger (1897-1897), Mannie Mae Kessinger-Leake (1895-1991) of Princeton, Minnie Onita Kessinger-Reid (1908-1990) of Crab Orchard, Glenna Charlotte Kessinger-Lilly (1902-1985) of Camp Creek, and Ruby Jane Kessinger-Hurt (1911-1991) of Logan; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with Rev. F. C. Calhoun officiating. Burial will take place at the Kessinger family cemetery at Camp Creek.
