Samuel Warren Freeman, age 81, of Greenbrier passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at St. Thomas West Hospital. Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends 4pm to 8pm on Tuesday, December 26th and 10am to 11am on Wednesday, December 27th at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier. The funeral Service will be at 11am on Wednesday at the funeral Home with Rev. Chad Phelan officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens.
He was born in Greenbrier on April 26, 1936 to the late Samuel L. and Ekie Byzet Freeman. He was also preceded in death by son, Stephen Freeman; brothers, Bruce Freeman, John Freeman; sisters, Martha Hays and Bettye Pedigo.
After graduating from Greenbrier High School in 1955 he joined the Navy. It was after that when he met and married the love of his life, Barbara Dillard Freeman in 1962. He retired from Peterbilt Motors in 2000 after 27 years employment. He was an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and loved woodworking, drinking his coffee and working in the yard. He also loved spending time with his 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Dillard Freeman; sons, Darryl (Joan) Freeman, Jonathan (Brea) Freeman; brothers, Tommy (Dorothy) Freeman, David (Dianne) Freeman; grandchildren, Katie Stout, Rachael Fondron, Heather Freeman, Anna Freeman, Isaac Freeman, Luke Freeman, Laniece Freeman, Mary Freeman, Josh Freeman and 4 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Freeman, Isaac Freeman, Luke Freeman, Kyle Lillard, Keith Shutt and Reagan Allen.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church Building Fund. Donations may be sent to Austin & Bell Funeral Home 2619 Hwy 41 S, Greenbrier, TN 37073 or to Ebenezer Baptist Church, 6028 Ebenezer Road, Greenbrier, TN 37073-5764.
