Jimmie "J.C." Cook entered this life on May 15, 1924 in Tahlequah, OK the son of John D. and Pearl (Chapman) Cook. He went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2018 in Muskogee, OK at the age of 93.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Tahlequah, with Pastor Deverett Butrick officiating. Interment will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK. Pallbearers include Larry Vaught, David Vaught and Arnold McGee.
J.C. was a great man that proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a Purple Heart recipient for a wound he sustained during the war in Italy. After returning to the states he spent much of his younger adult years in California. Then returned to Oklahoma to make his life in Sapulpa working as a police officer. He worked for the city of Sapulpa until his retirement, when he finally made his way home to Tahlequah. J.C. enjoyed spending time in the garage tinkering with cars in his spare time, but no time was better spent than being with family. J.C. is going to be missed by all of his friends and loved ones.
Those that went before him include his parents, one son Jeffery Cook, three brothers; Cordell Woodall, Raymond Cook, and Billy Cook, and three sisters; Walsie Nodine, Juanita Kissinger, and Deloris Vaught.
Left to carry on his legacy include his daughter, Nancy Kitamura and husband Curtis of San Dimas, CA, two granddaughters, Samantha Baumann and Christine Kitamura and two great granddaughters, Janelle and Natalie, along with one niece, Janis Vaught, two nephews, Larry and David Vaught, a great nephew, Johnnie Hicks, two great nieces, Pam Weaver and Gayla Bradshaw, and a very good friend Arnold McGee, as well as, many other loved ones.
