Lamont Glen "Monty" Howell, 88, of Idaho Falls, was born to Harold Christman Howell and Rosalina Zbinden Howell. They lived in Twin Falls until Monty was about the age of six, then moved to Logan, Utah, where his mother died when he was 8 years old. His father raised the family alone. Monty attended Boise High School. He enlisted in the U. S. Army and attained the rank of Master Sergeant.

After his release, he met Violet Kane and they were married July 22, 1952, in Winnemucca, Nevada. They began their life in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1966. Monty and Violet had nine children: Max, Nikkole, Paula, Kerry, Lorie, Todd, Camma, Tobyn, and Broden. He owned and operated grocery stores in Idaho Falls named Monty’s Food Kings for twenty years. Later, Monty went into sales, services and refrigeration for local stores.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed doing family history and temple work. He also enjoyed fishing, golf and spending time with his family and his "buddies."

Monty is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Violet Howell of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Max (Darla) Howell of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Nikkole (David) Root of Providence, UT; son, Kerry (Annette) Howell of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Lorie (Steven) Butterworth of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Todd (Jan) Howell of N. Ogden, UT; daughter, Camma Howell of Salt Lake City, UT; son, Broden (Christina) Howell of Hyrum, UT; sister, Varna (Craig) Heesch of St. George, UT; brother, Wesley Craig of St. George, UT; 31 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, D. Tobyn Howell; daughter, Paula Howell; sister, Rosemary McBride; and three brothers, Harold Howell, Jr., Michael Howell, and Robert Craig.
