Age 89, of Fond du Lac, WI, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.

He was born on January 3, 1917, in Des Moines, IA, a son of Arthur H. and Mildred Parshall Seibel. He graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School, attended the Oshkosh Teacher's College, and then attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison. John worked on the family farm, Evergreen Farm, in Unity, WI, from 1939-1946. On September 11, 1943, he married Marion "Buzzy" I. Arthur. In 1946, he and his wife moved to the Ripon and Fond du Lac area and then the east coast, where he worked as district manager for various tractor and heavy equipment manufacturers. John and his family lived in Newark, DE from 1958-1976. After retiring in 1979, John and his wife moved to St. Germain and lived on Lake Alma for 21 years. While living there, he was very active in the lake associations and received the honor of Director Emeritus of the Wisconsin Association of Lakes. In 2000, they moved back to Fond du Lac. He was a former member of the United Church of Christ, Eagle River, and most recently a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fond du Lac. He enjoyed music and loved to sing with choirs and with his Barbershop friends. He also enjoyed gardening and traveling. John especially enjoyed traveling to the Dominican Republic to visit his Dominican Republic family and friends, whom he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Marion; 3 children, Susan (Douglass) Day of Wauwatosa, John (Sobeya) Seibel of Dominican Republic and Richard Seibel of DE; 8 grandchildren, Madeleine, Nicholas, and Molly Day, Saschia (Wisen) Chame, John Parshall and John Paul Seibel, Kurt Alan and Patrick Arthur Seibel; 2 great-grandchildren, Khalil and Camila Chame; a brother, Arthur (Margaret) Seibel; and a sister, Ann Seibel, both of Fond du Lac, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Seibel.

A special thank you to Rev. Barbara Carmichael, Rev. Anthony Farina, Rev. Dean Desilet, and the staff at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. Also, special thanks to Dr. Mark Schaten and the staff at St. Agnes Hospital, their Adult Day Care, and St. Luke's Hospital for their wonderful care.

The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, June 5, 2006, at Mach Funeral Chapel, 31 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, WI, with Rev. Barbara Carmichael and Rev. Anthony Farina officiating. Inurnment will be in Forest Cemetery. The visitation will be 4-7 pm today, June 4, 2006, at Mach Funeral Chapel and on Monday from 10 am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Fond du Lac Symphonic Band, Ltd., Attn: Treasurer, PO Box 1483, Fond du Lac, WI 54936-1483.
